01 Who we are
MoodWorld (moodworld.app) is a real-time emotional mapping platform. Users share anonymous emotional states that are visualized as colored halos on a live world map. The platform includes a Web2 experience and a forthcoming Web3 layer involving on-chain tokenization of mood data.
For the purposes of data protection law, the data controller is the MoodWorld project team. Contact details are provided in section 11.
02 Data we collect
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address — used solely to notify you at launch.
When you create an account
- Email address and hashed password (bcrypt, 12 rounds), or OAuth token if you sign in with Google.
- A display name and country of residence (optional, editable at any time).
- An auto-generated avatar — derived deterministically from your identifier, never from a photo.
When you post a mood
- Emotion category, intensity level, optional context tag.
- An anonymized location (city-level precision — we never store GPS coordinates).
- Timestamp.
- A one-way hash of your user ID — your real identity is never attached to mood entries.
Automatically collected
- IP address — used only for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, never linked to mood data.
- Standard server access logs (HTTP method, response code, timestamp). Retained for 30 days.
03 How we use your data
- Waitlist email — one-time launch notification, then deleted or migrated to your account on your request.
- Account data — to authenticate you, display your profile, and let you manage your settings.
- Mood data — to render the live map, compute aggregated statistics, and power the $LOVE and $MOOD token mechanics.
- IP / logs — abuse prevention and rate limiting only. Never sold, never shared with advertisers.
We process your data on the legal basis of contract performance (providing the service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (security and abuse prevention). Where we rely on consent (e.g. marketing emails), you may withdraw it at any time.
04 On-chain data & blockchain (coming soon)
MoodWorld includes an optional blockchain layer. When you choose to mint a mood or interact with $MOOD / $LOVE tokens, certain data is written to a public blockchain:
- Your wallet address (public by the nature of blockchain technology).
- The emotion category, intensity, and timestamp of the minted mood.
- Token transfers and $LOVE interactions.
Off-chain mood entries (standard app usage without minting) follow the standard retention and deletion rules described in section 6.
05 Third-party services
- Mapbox — map tiles and geocoding. When the map loads, your browser contacts Mapbox servers. Mapbox may log tile requests including approximate location. See Mapbox Privacy Policy.
- Google OAuth — if you choose "Sign in with Google", Google processes your authentication. We receive only your email and display name. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Hosting providers — our infrastructure runs on Vercel (frontend) and Railway (backend). Both are GDPR-compliant and process data within their respective DPAs.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. We do not use advertising networks or behavioral tracking SDKs.
06 Data retention
- Waitlist emails — kept until launch, then migrated or deleted. You can opt out at any time.
- Account data — retained for the lifetime of your account. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Mood entries — retained for aggregated statistics. Anonymous entries may be kept indefinitely in aggregated form. Individual entries are deleted with your account.
- Server logs — 30 days rolling window.
- On-chain data — permanent, as described in section 4.
07 Your rights (GDPR & applicable law)
If you are based in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, for processing based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address in section 11. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (e.g. CNIL in France, ICO in the UK).
08 Cookies & local storage
- Session cookie — a signed, HTTP-only JWT cookie used to keep you logged in (7-day expiry). Strictly necessary; no consent required.
- Local storage — used to persist UI preferences (map filters, theme). No personal data stored.
We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any cross-site tracking cookies.
09 Children's privacy
MoodWorld is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of MoodWorld after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
